A novella length 20s erotic romance penned by Stephanie Draven in the first person point of view in present tense. That's six reasons why I should love this book right there, hence why this was a must-read for me.And it did NOT disappoint!
I don't really have time for full length books so much these days, so novellas and shorts are my preference. Not only that, but when I find an author who can write in the 1st person in present tense, and do it well...heck, I'm theirs for life! Yes. I'm am now Stephanie's book bitach; a reader of her work for life.
The moment I opened the first page on my Kindle, right til the very last word, I did not stop reading. She had me from start to finish, each perfect scene to the next flowed beautifully. At times I felt like I was right there with the characters, spying on them almost.
The hero is a brut, I'll be frank; he isn't my usual type of swoon-worthy leading man. He's crass. He's mean. And he's...well... damned hawt. I didn't think I'd like him. In fact, for a long while I didn't. But as the story progressed, and with the way the heroine responded to him, the way she knew it was wrong to love him, to want him as much as she did, well, it was just too much to resist. He was too much to resist.
Ms. Draven did a spectacular job at developing her characters and telling their story, and the attention to detail for the decade and setting was simply amazing.
And what tipped this story to an OMG-it-was-awesome was the last scene and his request of her (those who've read the book will know what I mean - no spoilers here!). Fans, cold showers, ice drinks... yeah, you may need one or more of those after reading Love Me or Leave Me.
Psyched to see there are more 20s stories coming our way from Ms. Draven...now, where is that pre-order page?

Turn on the air conditioner...you'll definitely need it as this story sizzles from beginning to end. But above and beyond the spectacular sex, what really pulled me into this story was the relationship between Nora and Jonathan, two people mired in misconceptions about one another and their marriage. Love Me or Leave Me is an erotic journey straight into the heart of a marriage and will leave you both tingling and touched.
I had thought earlier that the only supposed downside to this book was that it was over so quickly but I think that the author Stephanie Draven did indeed strike the perfect length for a novelette. I can imagine myself picking this story up time and time again for all the sassy, naughty, sexy fun throughout.
In fact from the moment I picked it up, I didn't set it down again until it was done! Everything from the era the story was set in (gotta love the 20's!) to the main characters, had me enraptured and clutching at -my- pearls in glee over such a deliciously naughty and romantic book. I hear that I get to read more on the main characters in another book of Stephanie Draven's and I can't wait! Her writing style has the most wonderful balance of leaving just enough up to the imagination, while weaving a world that you can almost literally see and feel.
Don't leave this book behind and you won't regret it!!!
Wow. Dig out your feathered fan - you'll need it by the time you finish Love Me or Leave me. This is one spectacularly hot book. But as great as the sex may be, what truly makes this book stand out is the relationship between the main characters. When the book opens, it seems as if there's no hope for this marriage. No spoilers, but the exploration of just what love and marriage are all about will fill your heart. And then, let me say again that the sex will bring a red-hot flush to your cheeks! This is a great intro to the full collection of It Stings So Sweet.
A slap too much for me, but well written. I liked the writing style but not the characters; if you like your heroes to be dominating males that waffle about it and your heroines to be insanely thirsy for physical abuse, then you might enjoy it.
A man and a woman , married but with doubts about their love find an intense passionate punishing way to the truth. This is an erotic novella with spanking and intense sex.
Amazing writer and great buy!
Loved this. The sex was hot, the characters came off as complicated and relatable, and the level of emotional depth added weight to this story's sizzle. That it was against the backdrop of the Roaring Twenties is just icing on the cake. My only wish is that it had been longer - I want to read more about these two!
